As the host of MUNCHIES’ hit series, Todos Los Tacos, and a proud taquería owner, it’s safe to say I’ve eaten my fair share of tacos. So, trust me when I say nothing makes tacos taste better than pairing them with the right tequila or cocktail. That’s why Camarena Tequila brought me on board as their first ever Chief Taco Officer. Together, we’ve created a guide to this summer’s hottest taco and tequila pairings. Check them out, and make sure to put them to good use spicing up your next taco night. I know I will!

SUADERO TACOS & CILANTRO MARGARITA
Made with a thin cut of brisket and lots of lemon, suadero tacos are classic and a favorite in Mexico City. It’s time for this taco to land in the U.S.! Pairs perfectly with a cilantro margarita. —Paco
CILANTRO MARGARITA
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Camarena Silver
1 oz. Sour mix
2 oz. Pineapple juice
3-4 Cilantro leaves
GARNISH: Cilantro, lime, pineapple frond
HOW TO PREPARE
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice, and shake to combine/chill. Strain (or double strain) into an ice-filled glass, and garnish.
CAULIFLOWER ADOBADA TACOS & SPICY PINEAPPLE MARGARITA
This summer, we really need a fresh taco. Cauliflower marinated in adobo al pastor, prepared like tempura and topped with a fresh habanero pineapple salsa has great flavor and crunch. Pairs best with a sweet, spicy cocktail like a spicy pineapple margarita. —Paco
SPICY PINEAPPLE MARGARITA
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Camarena Silver
1 oz. Lime juice
1 oz. Chipotle pineapple syrup
1 oz. Pineapple juice
GARNISH: Tajín®, lime wheel, mint sprig
HOW TO PREPARE
Add ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice, and shake to combine/chill. Strain into an ice-filled glass, and garnish.
FLAUTAS BAÑADAS EN SALSA & ROSEMARY PALOMA
I’ve always loved the crunchiness of tacos dorados and a good flauta, filled either with meat, queso or potato and bañada in any salsa (e.g. verde, roja, mole, etc.). Goes perfectly with a rosemary paloma on a hot summer day. —Paco
ROSEMARY PALOMA
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Camarena Silver
0.5 oz. Lime juice
Grapefruit soda
1 Sprig of rosemary
Pinch of salt
GARNISH: Lime wedge, rosemary sprig
HOW TO PREPARE
Build and stir ingredients (except grapefruit soda) into a cocktail shaker filled with ice, and shake to combine/chill. Strain into collins/pint glass filled with ice, and top with grapefruit soda. Garnish.
Pastor Tacos & Hibiscus Paloma
Can you really go wrong with pastor and pineapple? The pastor taco delivers all the classic flavors of slow-marinated pork butt and pineapple that’s made this dish a staple of the industry. Pair it with a sweet and bubbly Hibiscus Paloma for peak enjoyment.
HIBISCUS PALOMA
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Camarena Silver, hibiscus tea bag infused
2 oz. Ruby red grapefruit juice
Squeeze of lime wedge
Fill with sparkling water
RIM: A blend of hibiscus tea & sea salt
GARNISH: ½ Ruby red grapefruit wheel & flower
HOW TO PREPARE
Steep hibiscus tea bags in Camarena Silver to create flavored tequila. Remove tea bags and add ingredients into an ice-filled collins glass rimmed with hibiscus tea & sea salt blend. Stir together to combine/chill and garnish.
BAJA Fish Tacos & Spicy Mango Margarita
It’s tough to beat Baja-style fried-fish tacos done right. These fish tacos include fresh cabbage, vibrant pico de gallo, and cream. And they pair wonderfully with a spicy-sweet mango Margarita.
SPICY MANGO MARGARITA
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Camarena Reposado
.5 oz. Agave syrup
.5 oz. RE’AL Mango
1 oz. Lime juice
GARNISH: Chili Lime Salt
HOW TO PREPARE
Add ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake together to combine/chill. Strain into an ice-filled glass rimmed with Chili Lime Salt and garnish.
Queso Tacos & Camarena Veranda
Cheese is the star of the show in the queso taco. This new favorite features a blue-corn tortilla topped with onion, cilantro, guacamole, cotija cheese, and crema Mexicana—along with just about any protein. Polish it off with a tart and refreshing Camarena Veranda to create an unforgettable dining experience.
CAMARENA VERANDA
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Camarena Silver
3 oz. Grapefruit soda
.5 oz. Fresh lime juice
.5 oz. Agave nectar or honey
Cucumber slices
GARNISH: Cucumber & dill
HOW TO PREPARE
Add all ingredients (except grapefruit soda) into a shaker and lightly muddle. Add ice and shake vigorously. Uncap shaker and grapefruit soda. Strain into an ice-filled collins glass. Garnish.
